MODERN MODEL RESIDENTIAL SCHOOL
Modern Model Residential School (MMRS) is the first flagship non-profit school Impact Schools has helped in building and supporting. The school was established in 2009-2010 by Impact Schools’ Founder, and its success gave rise to the idea of Impact Schools.
The school currently has over 150 fulltime students attending the school from Kindergarten to the Sixth grade. The school also houses 33 orphan students and students from extremely poor and vulnerable backgrounds at its hostel facility. The school has a solar power system to generate electricity for its computer lab with 20 laptops and for other energy needs. It takes 2 days by bus and four hours on foot to reach MMRS from Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal.
MMRS also has social entrepreneurship projects to benefit local community and the students at school. The school has a vegetable farm, chicken farm and a bead-products project that employ local women and support the school.
